There is a sense of nostalgia when you step into a log cabin. You can feel the grandeur of the trees from which the house was made. You can imagine yourself as a pioneer meticulously crafting your log cabin to protect your family from the elements. And though the craft of building log cabins is diminishing, there is still a faction of custom builders in the Northern Rockies that aren’t giving up on perfecting Big Sky log cabins.
The craftsmen at Teton Heritage Builders continue the tradition of erecting custom log cabins in Wyoming and Montana. Since 1996 we have dedicated a significant amount of time to making log cabins in just about every style there is out there – from the Lost Creek Cabin that emulates an old ranger cabin in Yellowstone National Park to expansive log cabins meant for entertaining large groups. We have built traditional log stack cabins, log post and beam cabins, and have even built our share of conventionally framed homes with aesthetic log accents. Over the past 17 years we have become the premier builder of Big Sky log cabins.
Teton Heritage Builders’ Foxtail Residence at The Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana was recently featured among the best custom Big Sky log cabins in the Big Sky Journal Home magazine. This traditional log cabin is the definition of rustic living in the Northern Rockies. Featuring a full log frame package, the Foxtail Residence has a crow’s nest for panoramic views of both Pioneer Mountain and Lone Peak. Additionally, the log cabin boasts a guest suite above the unattached garage.
A quick peak into the great room and one can’t help but notice the captivating hand railings leading upstairs – they look as if alder is growing out of the stone steps. The steps themselves and the fireplace are an impressive mass of stacked stone. The kitchen is designed around a center island to accommodate entertaining large groups. This Big Sky log cabin will surely inspire any visitor to set their roots in Big Sky Country.
