The Nature Conservancy of Jackson Hole

June 3, 2013

nature conservancy wyoming

The Nature Conservancy needs no introduction at this point.  Their mission is clear and noble.  It shouldn’t be a surprise that The Nature Conservancy locates their facilities across the United States in the ideal locations to protect our most cherished lands.  Jackson Hole, Wyoming, adjacent to Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park, is proud to be one town to host this non-profit organization.  And when it came time to build The Nature Conservancy of Jackson Hole they honored Teton Heritage Builders by selecting them as their sustainable builder.

The rammed earth structure was designed by Ward-Blake Architects and incorporates environmentally friendly building approaches.  Sustainable technologies that were installed include a double pyrohelix wood burning fireplace to provide heat for the building.  Solar siting was considered to maximize heat gains in the winter and minimize cooling during the warm summer months.  And the design seemlessly camoflauges the building into the surrounding landscape.  It is a real gem.

The Nature Conservancy building in Jackson Hole garnered much excitement in the architectural community. Ward-Blake Architects earned an Award of  Honor and an Award of Merit from the American Institute of Architects.  The entire team at Teton Heritage Builders is very proud to be a part of the project for The Nature Conservancy of Jackson Hole.

Big Sky Builders Remodel Lone Peak Brewery

Big Sky Builders and Lone Peak Brewery
Lone Peak Brewery (Left) and Office Spaces (Right)

The Lone Peak Brewery was built from the ground up by local Big Sky builders that have been putting up custom commercial properties and homes in Big Sky since 2004.  If you’ve visited Big Sky, Montana in the last few year there’s a good chance that you popped in to try out the tasty craft brews at the Lone Peak Brewery after a hike or a day of skiing.  Located in the meadow below Lone Peak and Big Sky Resort, the Lone Peak Brewery has become a community gathering place for this vibrant mountain town in Southwest Montana.

Teton Heritage Builders was delighted to be selected as the Big Sky builders on this high-profile project in 2006.  Teton Heritage Builders was conceived in Jackson Hole, WY in 1996 and later expanded into the Big Sky region to deliver high quality properties to discerning clients.

Seating Addition at Lone Peak Brewery

Steve Nordahl, owner of Lone Peak Brewery, along with architect Eliot Goss designed the property to house the production space for brewing, a commercial kitchen for serving food at the brewery, and also added a few office spaces for rent.  After five years in operation it was evident that the Lone Peak Brewery needed more elbow room for its customers so they brought back their trusted Big Sky builders to help out with an expansion.

Teton Heritage Builders came in over the winter of 2012 and expanded the seating area into the East side of the first floor.  We moved and expanded the kitchen and appliances behind the new seating area, thereby opening up more bar space and table area in the main brewery.  We installed a brand new ventilation system for the kitchen and added in rustic trim to the added dining area.  In the future, there is talk about expanding even further into the spaces above the existing brewery rooms.

As a result, the Lone Peak Brewery can now accommodate many more visitors who want to enjoy the delicious offerings put forth by Steve, the accomplished brew master. Stay tuned for more updates on the progress of the Lone Peak Brewery and don’t forget to stop in the next time you are in Big Sky.

Jackson Hole Construction Bouncing Back in 2013

Jackson Hole Construction Gaining Momentum
Jackson Hole Construction Gaining Momentum

Data from the first quarter of 2013 shows real estate market values looking very good in Jackson, WY.  In turn, we expect the Jackson Hole construction market to come up with the trends in property values and sales.  As custom builders in Jackson, we have seen the market go through many upswings and downturns since 1996.  With the national housing market gaining momentum we are ecstatic to see real movement again in Jackson, WY.

As compared Q1 of 2012 the total number of properties under contract has increased by 96 percent and the average list price is now 87% higher than last year.  In the the upper end real estate market we find a a 400% increase in homes valued over $1M under contract as compared to Q1 2012.

David Viehman of The Jackson Hole Report points out that “the majority of our buyers are still second homeowners and retiring baby boomers that have likely exhausted their search of existing home inventory and decided to build their dream home.”

A willingness to concede on precise location of a property in Jackson Hole can garner many great options in the valley.  It also frees up money to work with in building a custom home.  With more and more folks adjusting their sights we predict a strong uptick in Jackson Hole construction and real estate sales.

The Jackson Hole construction market is looking very good coming into the summer of 2013.  Take time researching the area you want to live in and don’t hesitate to take the plunge – the market is competitive and lots are moving quickly.  Christie’s International Real Estate and Jackson Hole Real Estate Associates are two incredible resources to tap for property information.

Big Sky Modern Homes Come Into Style

The clean lines of modern homes are becoming en vogue in Big Sky, MT.  Though the vast majority of homes in Big Sky Country are log and timber frame, Teton Heritage Builders had the privilege of building a superb glass home in the Yellowstone Club.  The Lower Foxtail Residence is located in plain view of Big Sky Resort’s summit tram and affords a stunning view of Pioneer Mountain – the gem of the Yellowstone Club.  As Big Sky builders we relished the opportunity to bring our clients their dream home on Lone Peak.
